If Only for 1 Night…and 1 Night…and 1 Night

“Hold on one sec, girl,” Eleanor put Tammy on hold and clicked to the other line without even looking to see who was calling.

“Hey Sexy,” Brandon said.

“Shit,” Eleanor thought as she bit her lip. She told herself that the next time this fool called her she would send his ass straight to voicemail; although in her mind she knew that she was lying to herself. “Hey,” she said with as much attitude as she could muster.

“What’s up?”

“I’m on the other line.”

“Do you want to call me back?”

Eleanor knew that she should say yes, but she told him to hold on. “Tammy, let me call you back, girl. This is Brandon.”

“Brandon!”, shouted Tammy. “What does that asshole want now? Girl, I still can’t get over running into him at Sky Bar with that trifling Jaineen when he told you he was at his Aunt’s funeral. Girl, he is lucky I am trying to find my way closer to Jesus!”

Eleanor laughed. “Girl, I’ll call you right back.” And then clicked back to the other line where she could hear music playing loudly in the background. “I’m back,” she said.

“Hey Baby. I really want to talk to you about last week. I’m in the car riding with Rick. Is it cool if I have him drop me off? We are about 10 minutes from your crib.”

“Alright,” Eleanor resigned.

As soon as Eleanor hung up the phone, she ran to the bathroom to put on her “I don’t have on make-up” make-up. She tied her weave up into a messy bun and switched out of her old sweat suit into a matching Victoria’s Secret short pajama set that stopped at the crease of her butt. She gave herself a quick look in the mirror, a spray of her Chance perfume, and then walked into her living room.

She hated herself for caring how she looked. She hated herself for wanting him to come over. She hated herself because there were butterflies in her stomach when she heard the doorbell ring.

Eleanor let the doorbell ring three times before she answered it. She opened her heavy, metal, apartment door, slid one arm up on the side of it, tilted her head and did her best to look bored.

“Hey baby,” he said. “You gonna let a brotha in or what?”

Eleanor moved over without saying a word and walked ahead of him knowing that he would appreciate the fit of her pajama shorts. She walked over to the radio and put on 96.7, sat on the couch, crossed her arms and said, “so, talk.”

Brandon came and sat on the floor in front of her and put his hand on her left knee.

“Last week was some bullshit, baby. I haven’t been able to get it off of my mind. You know I don’t care nothin’ about Jaineen. I ran into her up at the barbershop when she dropped her brother off. She asked me if we could talk about how things ended with us. I just thought I owed her that. But you know that you are the only one for me,” he crooned, his hazel eyes looking directly into Eleanor’s, while his hand moved back and forth up and down her inner thigh—getting higher each moment.

She’d been here before. They’d been here before: him asking for forgiveness; her mind knowing the truth; her heart and body shutting out and shutting down her mind.  Damn.

Musiq Soulchild played in the background–

So many things I’ve got to tell you
But I’m afraid I don’t know how
Cause there’s a possibility
You’ll look at me differently
Love
Ever since the first moment I spoke your name
From then on I knew that by you being in my life
Things were destined to change cause……

black-man-kissing-neckBrandon grabbed Eleanor’s hand and pulled her down on the floor with him. He kissed her so deeply, his tongue pirouetting around her mouth, his right hand grabbing her ass, as is left pulled her shorts down.

Eleanor moved her hands down his arms, appreciating his hours spent in the gym, as he moved from her mouth—leaving her breathless, to her neck—sucking and nipping on it and her back as if he had been craving them for weeks. Eleanor sucked on her teeth a let out little moans.

Every now and then, he would murmur her nickname: “Elle”.

Love
So many people use your name in vain
Love
Those who faith in you sometimes go astray
Love
Through all the ups and downs the joy and hurt
Love
For better or worse I still will choose you first

Brandon took his right arm put it under both of her legs and lifted her on top of him. He looked at her and crooned, “I want to see your face the whole time.”

The face he saw for the next 40 minutes was quivering with pleasure until Eleanor fell asleep exhausted on his chest.

Rrrrrrriinnggggg…… Rrrrrrrrrrriiiinnggggg

“Hello,” Eleanor croaked looking around feeling a bit lost until she recognized that she is asleep on her living room floor.

“Girl, you were supposed to call me back last night when you got off the phone with that fool. What did he say?” questioned Tammy.

Eleanor looked around and realized that she was alone. She grabbed the throw-blanket off of the couch, pulled it tightly around her,  and answered, “Nothing, girl. He wasn’t talkin’ bout nothin.”
